I get an empty page when I want to view a huge page (e.g. db_details_structure.php with plenty of tables).

This is a PHP bug that occurs when gzip output buffering is enabled. If you turn it off (by $cfg['OBGzip'] = false in config.inc.php), it should work. This bug will be fixed in PHP 5.0.0.
